Completely disassembled, the electrolytic capacitors were replaced with high-quality Nichicon audio capacitors, the switches and potentiometers were treated with a special contact cleaner, the bias and zero points were adjusted, and the amplifier was generally cleaned.

At that time, manufacturing was still "old school," with exceptional build quality that is no longer the same today. For example, the front panel is made of 4mm thick aluminum, the knobs are made of aluminum alloy, and very little plastic is used in its construction. It weighs 11.5 kg.
The DC power amplifier, developed exclusively by Kenwood, has very low distortion and excellent transient response. Separate power supplies for each channel reduce dynamic crosstalk to negligible levels, offering purer sound quality. The very low total harmonic distortion is 0.02% over the audio range of 20 to 20,000 Hz, and the signal-to-noise ratio measures 80 dB (IHF A) at the phono inputs. A superior tone control system, a fader-type volume control, and a two-step volume control allow you to tailor the sound to your room's acoustics and individual preferences.
